Rustic oak wood.
We only use wooden beams with a natural and authentic look for our bed. This means that small imperfections deliberately occur in the wood, while large irregularities such as cracks and knots are excluded as much as possible. This gives the wood character, without it becoming too coarse.
To make the bed ideally resistant to the damp indoor climate, the 4 centimeter thick wooden beams have been artificially dried. The beams are then neatly sanded smooth and the sharp edges are slightly rounded. Finally, the wood is varnished, which gives the material a subtle final effect and is also protected against dirt and moisture.
Laser-cut steel.
The steel support structure of the bed has been created through a highly accurate automated production process, which has kept costs and environmental impact low.
How exactly? First we placed a 3 millimeter thick sheet of structural steel under the laser machine. The machine then cuts this sheet with an accuracy of one tenth of a millimetre. So hardly any material is lost. The loose steel elements are then deburred and shaped into the correct shape. For a sleek end result, the steel is provided with a matt powder coating in a fine structure, which beautifully complements the rustic character of the wood.
